The Glass and Wooden Reptile Enclosures

GLASS reptile enclosures tend to last longer and are easier to clean. In contrast, Wooden Melamine will deteriorate over time and being timber. It would be best if you were careful how much water you use while cleaning.

While GLASS reptile enclosures must be used for semi-aquatic species, we recommend purchasing a Wooden Melamine reptile enclosure. It would be best to use a small bead of silicone around all the timber joins to stop water from getting into the gaps and swelling the timber.

WOODEN reptile enclosures are much better at holding temperature as heat escapes through glass quicker than wood. With price, tanks made from either glass or melamine are about the same.

One thing you need to be aware of is ALL reptile enclosures need to have adequate ventilation. Adequate ventilation means that there will be no condensation build-up on the inside of the enclosure. Ventilation is essential as humid environments for most desert-dwelling snakes and lizards will cause respiratory infections.

Both our Melamine Wooden and Glass Reptile Enclosures for sale at our store have the recommended level of ventilation, allowing sufficient airflow. Irrespective of what type of enclosures you choose, you will need to add the correct lighting and heating according to the animal you are keeping.

Check out the video below of some of our range of heating and lighting options.
