The Glass and Wooden Reptile Tanks
GLASS tanks are more suitable for semi-aquatic reptiles. However, if you buy a Wooden Melamine reptile tank, you need to seal it with a bit of silicone around the timber joins. The silicone filling stops water from getting into the spaces in between the wood, preventing the timber from swelling and damaging the tank.
WOODEN reptile tanks are much better at holding temperature as warmth escapes through glass faster than wood. Concerning the price, both types of tanks are comparably the same.
The basic rule is to make sure there isn’t condensation on the inside glass of your reptile tanks. If there is, it usually means that there is inadequate ventilation. It usually happens when there is a warm environment, a water bowl, and a lack of ventilation holes or wire grills to let the moisture escape, increasing the humidity level. A high humidity level for most Australian species of reptiles will cause respiratory problems.
