Glass reptile enclosures have the advantage of durability and ease of cleaning. They are also ideal for semi-aquatic species due to their resistance to water damage. However, they are less effective at retaining heat and can be more fragile.

Wooden reptile enclosures excel in heat retention, providing a stable environment for reptiles.  On the downside, they are susceptible to water damage and may deteriorate over time. Cleaning requires careful water management to avoid swelling and damage to the timber.

It would be best to use a small bead of silicone around all the timber joins to stop water from getting into the gaps.

Both types of enclosures are similar in cost.

One thing you need to be aware of is ALL reptile enclosures need to have adequate ventilation. Adequate ventilation means that there will be no condensation build-up on the inside of the enclosure. Ventilation is essential as humid environments for most desert-dwelling snakes and lizards will cause respiratory infections.
