How to avoid the 7 BIGGEST Aquarium Mistakes
Glass and Wooden Vivarium
The GLASS vivariums tend to last longer and are easier to clean. In contrast, Wood Melamine will deteriorate over time and being timber. You need to be careful how much water you use while cleaning.
While GLASS vivariums must be used for semi-aquatic species, we recommend if you purchase a Wooden Melamine vivarium that you use a small bead of silicone around all the timber joins to stop water from getting into the gaps and swelling the wood.
WOODEN vivariums are much better at holding temperature as heat escapes through glass quicker than wood. Regarding price, tanks made from either glass or melamine are about the same.
One thing you need to be aware of is ALL reptile vivariums need to have adequate ventilation. Adequate ventilation means that there will be no condensation build-up on the inside of the glass vivariums. Ventilation is essential as humid environments for most desert-dwelling snakes and lizards will cause respiratory infections.
Both our Melamine Wooden and our Glass Reptile Enclosures for sale at our store have the recommended level of ventilation, allowing sufficient airflow. Irrespective of what type of enclosures you choose, you will need to add the correct lighting and heating according to the animal you are keeping.
Check out the video below of some of our range of heating and lighting options.
